MCIC competes in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Cycling League (Wisconsin NICA), part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) — the largest youth mountain biking organization in the country. Wisconsin NICA is one of the most active high school mountain biking leagues in the Midwest, hosting festival weekends each season across Wisconsin. You can learn more at wisconsinmtb.org. MCIC is unique as one of the only Michigan teams in the league — because there is currently no NICA league in Michigan, we cross the border to give Marquette County students access to competitive youth mountain biking.

There are several ways to support MCIC and youth cycling in Marquette County! You can donate directly to our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, become a team sponsor (sponsorship contributions of any size are welcome), or volunteer your time at rides and events. Every contribution helps keep costs low for student-athletes and their families.

Although MCIC is based in Marquette, Michigan, there is currently no Michigan NICA league — so we compete in the neighboring Wisconsin Interscholastic Cycling League, making us one of the only Michigan teams in the league. MCIC competes in five festival weekends during the 2026 season: Bluff Bash (Sept 4–8, Marshfield WI), Cable Conquest (Sept 11–14, Cable WI), Hodag Hustle (Oct 2–5, Rhinelander WI), Gnarly Nordic North (Oct 9–12, Wild Rose WI), and the Red Barn State Championship (Oct 23–26, Waterloo WI).

Not at all! NICA's motto is "everyone rides" — there are no tryouts and no minimum skill level. Our coaches work with athletes of all abilities. If your child is curious but not sure, our Give-it-a-Go event is a perfect low-pressure introduction before committing to the full season.
